Visit the Beaches of Normandy // A guide to the Allies' landing sites of World War 2

Visiting the beaches of Normandy is easy to do, with some planning. The beaches, like Utah and Omaha, all feature museums or monuments to the Allied Forces. They're all within a one hour drive of each other on the northern coast of France.

I'd suggest flying to Paris and taking the train up to the city of Caen. From there, you can rent a car from the train station, or use a site like Viator to hire a tour company to do the driving for you.

It's easy driving through the French countryside. Aside from the cities of Caen and Le Havre, you won't encounter any traffic at all!

Many of us have grandparents who fought in World War 2, and I'd always wanted to go visit the sites in France where I knew my grandfather deployed. While he wasn't part of the Normandy invasion, he flew missions over other parts of France which we also drove through.
